LEGAL

LEGAL COUNCIL

The first thing you should do is make sure you know how you you're going to protect yourself legally. The music industry is serious business and a serious artist should treat it that way.

That said.....no one is perfect and life is a struggle all in itself for a lot of artists, so don't be down on yourself if you can't afford it, just know what's available once you can.

   Sheldon Kay

I came across Sheldon Kay "The Rock N Roll Lawyer" in my musical travels, at guitar center believe it or not lol.

He was doing a free class on copyright, I went to check it out with a buddy (who has since died of kidney failure) Zane Banks.

Dude took us to his house it was freekin unreal.... lol. We all just hit it off and the guy was funny as shit. We got to talking and he said to hit him up if we ever need a music lawyer.

I never actually needed his services but I never forgot that day. Dude gave us a lot of useful info and cleared up a lot of misconceptions we had.

The thing about this guy is he isn't just a lawyer, he is also a musician so he can understand musicians because he is one.

I'd gladly pay for his time just to talk good bad and ugly of the music business, but I don't have to because he has a radio show.

I don't get any kickback for endorsing Sheldon Kay I just thought he was cool peeps from my Guitar Center experience with him.

This is not a bad place to start, considering I AM NOT a lawyer and I can only advise you to FIND ONE!
